VOLUNTEER INTERNSHIP, with completion possible part-time employment

 

 Job Summary:

Exposure to a broad range of media/radio disciplines.

                                                                                                    

Responsibilities

• Rotates through various radio functions or focuses on one specific area, e.g., sales, programming, events, etc.

• Conducts research & analysis.

• Assists in general office tasks.

• Prepares & delivers reports as required.

• Learns job processes/requirements in assigned functions.

• Serves as an apprentice in assigned function.

• May work with other interns on projects.

• Assists in developing and broadening interest in Star 90,5FM

Internship will require the minimum required 135 hour served to receive 3 credit hours at Florida Gulf Coast University.


Depending on the length of the internship be it 10 or 15 weeks, the weeks will break down into 5 main focuses:  I,e, 2 weeks - Sales, 2 weeks - Programming, 2 Weeks - Promotions, 2 Weeks - Production 2 Weeks - Engineering, based on a 10 week internship, 3 weeks each if 15 weeks..  My goal is to provide hands on training by myself of operating a radiostation on a day to day experience.  The intern will be provided a test after every area of focus is complete (every 2-3 weeks) and one final test at the completition of the internship that must be passed with a score of 85% of 100% to earn the credited hours towards Florida Gulf Coast University.  As well they will have to complete all 135 hours required in the length of entire internship, be it 9-10 hours a week.  My schedule is flexible, however best time available for training are 12 Noon - 8pm Monday - Wednesday, Thursdays 10am-2pm and every other Saturday 12Noon - 8pm, Fridays are available if neccessary.

 Job Location:  Some time will be spent at the Company’s office at 2640 Golden Gate Parkway, Ste. 112-A, Naples, FL. Meetings will be required at client offices and other locations throughout the community. The remainder of the work can be performed from home or campus.

 Time Commitment: The internship requires a minimum commitment of 200 hours.  The weekly schedule is flexible and will depend on the needs of the Company’s clients and the availability of the intern to perform the work.  Internship Description

 Purpose: Provide an experiential learning opportunity for students interested in corporate and nonprofit Communications. 

 Job Tasks: 

General
• Meet with supervisor
• Communicate with clients, vendors and Company employees by phone, email and in person
• Research information for use in communications
 • Prepare reports on work activities and progress toward learning objectives
• Keep track of and report time on Company timesheet
• Collaborate with other interns, volunteers and Company employees
• Other general duties in support of the Company’s communications strategies


Newsletters
• Assist in establishing e-marketing templates for Company and clients
• Enter contacts into e-marketing lists for Company and clients
• Assist Company and clients in syncing e-marketing programs with contact management systems
• Research content and write stories for e-newsletters
• Design e-newsletters for Company and clients, prepare them for distribution and submit to supervisor for approval
• Distribute approved e-newsletters
• Track and report e-newsletter response using analytics
• Assist in establishing templates for print newsletters for Company and clients
• Assist in preparing mailing lists for Company and clients
• Enter new contacts into contact management systems
• Research content and write stories for print newsletters
• Coordinate with printer for the production and mailing of the print newsletter and any inserts
• Other duties in support of newsletter planning, production and distribution

Blog
• Research content, write blog posts for Company and clients and submit to supervisor for approval
• Publish approved blog posts for Company and clients
• Other duties in support of blogging

Social Media
• Assist Company and clients in establishing and growing a following on their social media accounts, including but not limited to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest and Google+
• Research content, share images and write posts for Company and clients on their social media accounts
• Set goals for increasing social media presence for Company and clients
• Track and report progress using analytics
• Other duties in support of social media

Press Releases
• Prepare press releases for Company and clients and submit to supervisor for approval
• Distribute approved press releases to media contacts
• Update media contact lists for Company and clients
• Follow up with media contacts by phone and email
• Coordinate with public relations professionals on behalf of Company and clients
• Other duties in support of media relations

The Hockey Summit Communication Internship

We are looking for an individual to run our social media, graphic and video design, and website updates for our NHL camp that runs for July and August. It would include filming, editing and compiling daily highlight videos, posting them, updating our site as content is created and being the face of the social media accounts of the hockey Summit. We would also have this person do different media creations for a marketing standpoint.



The dates of the camp are July 10-August 26, but would be looking to get someone beginning with us in June.
