Path2Freedom NonProfit PR/Communication Internship


Description

Path2Freedom, Inc., a local nonprofit dedicated to fighting against human trafficking in Southwest Florida, is looking for an intern interested in learning all aspects of working for a nonprofit organization and will provide the student with a basic understanding of the nonprofit world. The intern who fills this position should expect to learn about fundraising events, giving presentations, managing volunteers, community outreach, maintaining a database, and writing newsletters.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with events (Golf tournament and Gala)
  • Schedule and coordinate speaking engagements for the founder and president
  • Assist in the creation of a monthly newsletter
  • Give presentations on human trafficking in the community
  • Manage volunteer database
  • Assist with organizing the Human Trafficking Symposium at FGCU
  • Create or update databases
     
    Requirements
    Students applying for this internship must have strong communication skills and should be majoring in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or Journalism. Applicants should also have strong writing skills. Only interns proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications should apply. Students should also have a passion for helping others and making a difference in the community

Academic Internship at Lovers Key Adventures & Events

Social Media/Marketing Department

Description: Opportunity to develop your marketing portfolio and social media marketing skills while promoting our brand and expanding our clientele. You will research our target market, develop an email marketing database, and update social media accounts. Great fit for marketing or management majors interested in entrepreneurship.


Lovers Key Adventures and Events is the exclusive concessionaire, event management, and rental company Lovers Key State Park. We are a small, family owned business who values not only the profitability of the company but also the protection of the natural resources that make our location so unique.


Our company prides itself on customer service, employee relationships, and creating and environment of adventure and connection to nature for everyone that comes through the gates at Lovers Key State Park.    


Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes:

• Learn how to implement, launch, and maintain all social media content utilizing Facebook, Wedding Wire, Pinterest, Instagram, and others.
• Assist in increasing rankings on platforms like TripAdvisor. Yelp, and Google+
• Develop skills optimizing promotional signs and flyers.
• Assist in reaching out to different organizations via email or phone.
• Develop an email marketing database after researching the best database product.
• Improve visual marketing skills while photographing events and weddings.
• Assist with the set up and tear down of events.
• Work closely with the Lovers Key Managing Partner and Events Coordinator.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Interest in and adept with social media.
• Willingness to work independently, take initiative, and complete assignments in timely manner.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Publisher, Excel, Word)


Working Hours: Based on the university’s requirements and student’s availability 


Compensation: Students will be paid $9 per hour with most work done from home and 1 to 2 day of office work. Free entry into the park while working and free use of paddleboards and kayaks while completing internship.
