Madison Marquette (www.madisonmarquette.com),
a Washington D.C.-based developer and manager of retail properties, is seeking a
marketing intern for the Mercato (www.mercatoshops.com)
in Naples.
The marketing intern
will be based onsite and report to the Marketing Director.
During the
semester-long program, interns may expect to learn the following:
- Application of theoretical marketing practices in real-world settings.
- Critical thinking and problem solving.
- Planning and implementing media campaigns.
- Event planning, including conceptualization, budget development, execution and analysis from a sales and traffic standpoint.
- Creation of presentations and pitches.
- Meeting participation and leadership skills.
- Tactical marketing strategies.
- Development of business relationships with organizations, merchants, management and vendors.
- Market research techniques and analysis.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills and systems to achieve short and long-term deadlines and goals.
- Importance of promotions and public relations to event success.
- Brand identity and synergy with other brands to strengthen promotions and increase revenue.
- Techniques for lead generation.
- Growing customer loyalty via social media and other online engagement.
Some of the duties interns will take
ownership of will include:
- Event coordination.
- Collection of merchant promotional information.
- Social media/online posting and tracking.
- Market research including surveys.
- Analysis of event success through various methods merchant communications.
- Documenting events through photos and video.
- Update calendars and website.
- Write copy for various advertising applications.
- Crafting and distribution of media releases.
- Assist with daily errands and maintain marketing inventory.

- Willingness to learn and apply constructive criticism to work habits.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Proficient in various social media platforms as well as Microsoft PowerPoint, Publisher and Excel.
Work environment:
Interns will assist in the office and
onsite events. Interns will have the option to complete some projects from
home.
Hourly commitment:
5 to 16 hours per week
Compensation:
This is an unpaid, for-credit
internship; however exemplary effort will be rewarded. Interns who successfully
complete the program will be eligible for an honorarium. Upon completion of the
internship, supervisor will submit necessary paperwork to FGCU so that the intern
may receive credit.
