Gulf Coast Leisure Seeks Interns

I just wanted to let you know about an internship opportunity that I had the pleasure of having this semester that I think other students could benefit greatly from.

I was able to intern with a local startup LLC called Gulf Coast Leisure, a team of individuals dedicated to growing the local art, culture and music found here in Southwest Florida. They are currently looking for graphic designers, video editors, and social media marketing/management interns, or just more like-minded individuals who share their passion for the arts community. I am their internship coordinator/contact person, so if you know of anyone who may be interested in this internship, please send them my way!

Although this internship is unpaid, the team is very flexible with students' schedules and needs regarding taking on the internship for course credit or building their portfolio. In one semester alone, I've entirely revamped my portfolio with original creative videography while also having the ability to pitch into each and every team meeting that is held, as well as reworking their media kits and press releases. They really do take everyone's voice and opinion very seriously, which is very nice as well. They also prefer that you work remotely for the most part, communicating via text, e-mail or the intern's  social media.

For anyone interested in seeing what they do, GCL hosts two events every month: Speak My Peace, which is an open mic night held every first Saturday of the month (which usually has performances booked months in advance) and Art & Poetry Networking Event every fourth Thursday of the month (APNE as well call it). Here, artists and other talent from the local area have the opportunity to network and collaborate with each other, with the interns getting a fresh look at the upcoming local talent and growing their own personal network very quickly. Many talent acquisition personnel, as well as local business owners and potential clients, often attend this event, so it's definitely a night to look forward to! There is a door fee of $10 per person, but if you're a student I believe it goes down to $8. Speak My Peace is held at American Legion 38 and APNE is held at the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center in Downtown Fort Myers.

Again, anyone who is interested can contact me directly for more information! We're looking for students to begin almost immediately, and they'd be welcomed into the team with open arms.

Thanks in advance,

Marck Molina
