to a new partnership with the Office of Internship/Cooperative Programs, more
students can now qualify for credit by getting involved, so we’re reopening our
call for applications for one more week.
There
are now TWO ways to qualify for internship credit with Eagle Media:
1.
Get approval from the internship coordinator
in your respective academic program
2.
Register for COE 3948/COE4949 and take it as
an elective (more information about the Internship/Co-Op Course attached.)

FALL
2018 EAGLE MEDIA INTERNSHIP OPENINGS:
MARKETING
Outreach
& Promotions Intern
This is
a position is for creative, personable and dependable self-starters. Outreach
& Promotions Interns are responsible to getting the word out to the campus
community about our growing student media program as well as cultivating
support from potential sponsors. Primary responsibilities include attending
weekly Eagle News, Eagle Radio, ENTV planning meetings (each intern assigned a
different meeting), assisting in weekly distribution of the Eagle News
newspaper, participating bi-weekly tabling; and developing original
marketing/campaign ideas/events to pitch to the Eagle Media leadership.
Additionally, students in these positions will assist the Eagle News Media
Editor and ENTV Director in social media promotion of content and events as well
as tracking circulation and website analytics. Ideal candidates will be highly
organized with great communication skills. Availability on Wednesday afternoons
preferred. Knowledge of Canva, Wordpress
or Google Analytics is a plus. Experience driving a golf cart a double-plus!
Sales
& Marketing Intern
Eagle
Media operations are funded in part by the revenue generated through the sale
of newspaper, web and radio advertisement. This position is highly recommended
for those hoping to be selected as the 2018-19 Business Manager (which is a
competitive, paid and commissioned position). The Sales & Marketing Intern
is responsible for shadowing the Business Manager during some meetings with
clients and university staff and assisting him with calls and emails from
clients. The intern will learn about how the ad sales are generated and tracked
as well as assist in answering office phone calls and following up on new
leads. This intern will also be primarily responsible for reaching out to
student organizations to build awareness and interest in advertising their events
in the paper/web as well as collaborating with the Outreach & Promotions
Interns on creating promotional content and marketing campaigns. This intern
will also assist with paper distribution as needed. Must be available to work
at least 10 hours a week, preferably on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays.
Business
Operations
The
position of Business Operations & Administrative Intern is responsible for
assisting the Eagle Media Business Manager in newsroom office management. This
intern will assist in tracking office inventory, archiving both web and
hardcopy content, organizing newsroom files, answering phone calls and
assisting with media inquiries. The Business Operations & Administrative
Intern may also assist the Business Manager in drafting ad contracts and
invoices as well as creating financial reports and forecast on Excel. The
intern will also assist with paper distribution and promotion as needed.
Preference given to business majors. Students with accounting experience and
proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred. Must be available to work at least 10
hours a week, preferably on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays.
EDITORIAL
Reporting
Intern
This
position is ideal for a Communications major looking to get into the
content-producing side of mass media. The Reporting Intern is responsible for
covering campus news on a weekly basis using a variety of media platforms, such
as print, photography and video. This position will report to both Eagle News
and ENTV leadership. Multimedia News Intern duties include attending weekly
Eagle News editorial staff meetings, completing at least one news assignment
each week, meeting weekly deadline, completing at least one video news segment
for ENTV each month, communicating with the Eagle News Editor and ENTV director
what you are working on and when it will be complete. Interns in this position
are also encourage to pitch their own story ideas and multimedia projects. This
position requires an understanding of deadline-driven reporting and knowledge of
AP style. Preference given to students available late Monday and Tuesday
afternoons/early evenings. Experience shooting and editing video a plus.
Copy
& Web Editing Intern
This
position is for those grammar police with meticulous attention to detail and
concern for the facts. The duties of the copy/web intern include proof-reading
text for the newspaper and web for grammatical errors and factual errors as
well as posting time-sensitive content to the web when the Media Editor is not
available. This position reports to both the Media Editor and Senior Copy
Editor. Copy and web interns may also be occasionally asked to contribute
content to the paper or website. Great experience for those looking to get into
the publishing business or web content management. Punctuality, strong grammar
and attention to detail a must. Knowledge of AP style and WordPress a plus.
Availability on Monday and Tuesday evenings preferred.
Broadcast
Production Intern
This
position is responsible for assisting in the behind-the-scenes work of getting
Eagle Radio and ENTV content ready and out to the public. The broadcast
associate will learn to operate a camera both in studio and out in the field as
well as how to man the radio control station. That person will also learn to
edit on Adobe Audition and Premiere. The broadcast associate will be expected
to attend ENTV weekly planning meetings and assist in the filming/editing of AT
LEAST two radio or video productions per week. The ideal candidate is a quick
learner with a passion for making magic from behind the curtain and exceptional
attention to detail. Punctuality and dependability are a must. Some video/audio
editing experience a plus.
