Description
Under direct supervision, the purpose of the internship
is to receive on-the-job exposure and experience to learn how to perform a
variety of duties for a specified department, job family, and field of
studies. The student will learn about communications and support the
public relations and marketing activities of the City. Students assigned
to this classification may perform both routine duties and non-routine support
duties as the nature of the area of work and studies assigned. Emphasis is
placed on providing varied, meaningful learning experiences to the student,
while at the same time providing work assistance to the City. The student
will be able to gain experience on how a communications department operates
within municipal government.

Duties/Responsibilities

Performs a wide
variety of administrative, project related, and department specific
assignments.
·
Create strong
social media content and devise communications strategies to inform the public
of City services, projects and events.
·
Conducts and
compiles research.
·
Assist managerial
or professional employees.
·
Complete projects.
·
Create logos,
brochures and infographics
·
Capture and edit
photo and video content
·
Perform basic
administrative duties including written reports, memorandums, letters and
electronic correspondence, interaction with the public and communication
through telephone and meetings.

May provide
customer service to the public.
·
May provide work
that involves the use of technical skills or the use of professional and
semi-independent judgement in completing job tasks within given parameters.
